Meeting A Stranger
Meeting a stranger is a photographic project exploring the interaction between strangers in a public place and through a connection exploring further on possessions as a form of identity. Eddie has always been fascinated by strangers and the countless people we walk past everyday, so to explore this social relation Eddie took to the streets of Portsmouth.
The violinist in the shadows caught Eddie’s eye, he was unpacking and people were walking past without acknowledging his presence. The second the bow touched the strings, the atmosphere changed, heads turned and people stopped, so did a smiling stranger named Lez. The violin reminded Lez of a special time in his life and his candidness towards Eddie as a stranger was fascinating. Spending more than an hour getting to know bits and pieces of him and his life, gave this narrative much personal meaning. Because just as the smiling man was moved by the violinist Eddie was moved by smallest of things such as a paper note from the smiling stranger Lez.
